James Suckling and his team tasted over 2,100 Spanish wines in their third annual tasting held last month in Rioja. This year’s edition has yielded some top scores for Bodegas Beronia, with 11 wines scoring 90+ points.
The Beronia Viñas Viejas 2017 scored a record 94 points, with the Beronia Gran Reserva 2011, Beronia Crianza 2016, Beronia Ecológico 2017, Beronia Rueda 2018 and the recently launched Alegra de Beronia 2018, close behind with 92 points.
91 points were awarded to the iconic III a. C. 2016, Beronia 2014, Tempranillo Elaboración Especial 2017 and the Viura 2018, with the Beronia Rosado receiving 90 points.
CEO and editor, James Suckling comments on the tasting, “It was a lot of wines to get through in about 10 days, but it was a great experience and the many excellent wines, meetings and tastings with winemakers from around Spain just reaffirmed to us that the country is making some of the most drinkable and characterful wines in the world at the moment.”
