Vilarnau Calcotada Trip Feb 2017 (421)

December 19, 2017

Celebrate the Catalan way with Vilarnau Calçotada events!

A Calçotada is an annual event in Catalonia where people get together to celebrate the January harvest of the calçot, a local sweet onion which is a speciality of the region. They are grilled over a hot fire, wrapped up in newspaper, served on terra cotta tiles and eaten, after peeling with bare hands, dipping one by one in romesco sauce. They are accompanied by cava served from a traditional porrón.

As in previous years, we’re teaming up with venues across the country to host fun and flavourful calçotada events which will be running up until April when the calçot season comes to an end.

To find out about how you can get involved with the Vilarnau calçotada campaign email Karen Jaen on or speak to your Account Manager.
